THINC Students Attend Auburn Engineering Day THINC at AU Engineering Day 2019

THINC AU Engineering Day 2019

Students from THINC’s STEM-related classes recently attended Auburn University’s Engineering Day. The annual event gives high school students the opportunity to learn more about the engineering program at Auburn and possible careers in the field. They’re able to chat one-on-one with students and faculty, experience interactive exhibits, and visit classes and labs, including the new Shelby Center for Engineering Technology.

During their visit, THINC students toured Aerospace, Biosystems, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer, Industrial, Materials and Mechanical Engineering areas. Some of the interactive experiences included: robotics advances in Electrical/Computer Engineering, car racing in Mechanical Engineering, concrete studies in Civil Engineering (some students won a memento for answering a question), and new ideas in rocket engines and plans to land a ship on an asteroid in Aerospace Engineering.

“This was an incredible event for our students, with so much to see and learn about,” says THINC Science Instructor Susan Hinson. “They were able to investigate specific engineering areas they were interested in and get a good look at their next step in higher education.”
