Principal's Message

Chris Williams
Principal/Director

Welcome back to THINC College & Career Academy! As we begin our third year of operation, I can’t help but reflect on the great things over the summer that have set the momentum for the coming year.

We are hot off a GREAT showing at the Skills Nationals competition in Louisville, Kentucky. At the week-long competition, our Humanoid Robotics team won the SILVER MEDAL by placing SECOND in the NATION! Also, placing FIFTH in the nation was our Mechatronics team which was the VERY FIRST ALL-FEMALE team to compete at the national level!

THINC hosted its first Robotics Camp which we call SLAM, Students Learning About Manufacturing. SLAM was sponsored by a few of our industry partners; Duracell, Milliken, KIA, and Mountville Mills. During the week-long camp students visited each of the industry locations to learn about modern-day manufacturing and how different it is from the “mills” our parents and grandparents worked in not so long ago.  Students also spent time under the tutelage of THINC’s Robotics Instructors where they were able to build their own robot and compete with each other at the end of the week.

Thank you to all of our students, parents, business and industry partners, and other stakeholders for continuing to help THINC grow and improve. Without all of you, this would not be possible!

Please join us at our Parent Night/Open House events on September 5, 2017 and January 30, 2018. Both events will be from 5:30 – 7:00pm.

Please visit our business website at www.thincacademy.net

Sincerely,

Dr. Chris Williams
