Amy Thornton, Principal

Dear Callaway Elementary Families,

On behalf of the staff at Callaway Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a stronger partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. Our focus is to provide each child with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience. We want your child to be happy and successful at CES, and you play a key role. That role is to continually show interest in, and to support your child. A child who knows his or her family is interested in and supports the school programs and staff, will almost always enjoy great success, and will have fewer problems in school. The wonderful CES staff and I feel privileges to be a part of this school family. It takes all of us to help each and every child reach his/her potential. Working together we will have a wonderful year filled with learning, lifelong relationships and the joys of success and accomplishment.High performing schools have highly effective leaders, teachers, and teams. These schools also excel in family and community engagement. This year, we are going to excel in involving you! Please feel free to contact me at (706) 845-2059 or via email  We thank you for your support!!!

Katie Brown, Instructional Specialist

Dear Callaway Elementary Parents and Students,

I am so happy to be part of the CES team this year! My name is Katie Brown and I am the new instructional specialist. I have been in education for 17 years. Ten of those years were spent in the classroom while the other 7 have been spent as a district elementary math coach. I am a dedicated and resourceful educator with a solid commitment to leading students and staff members in continuous improvement while providing and monitoring a safe and motivating learning environment.  We have lots of exciting things happening in our building this year. Here at CES, we will be implementing the 3Rs; rigor, relevance, and relationships. We will also be implementing PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) which is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success. Be on the lookout for opportunities including parent workshops, student-led conferences, and various other ways we can come together for the good of the students here at CES. I look forward to building relationships with all parents and students. I am here to listen, and partner with you to make this a successful year. Please feel free to contact me at anytime. My email address is or you can contact me at the school (706-845-2059).

Milton Reese, Assistant Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Callaway Elementary School Community,

WELCOME to the Callaway Elementary School website!!  As the Assistant Principal of CES, I am very fortunate to work with many dedicated, innovative and caring staff members, parents and students.  Each day is filled with new experiences, learning for all, and the ability to make someone’s day better; many days it is the students who make my day a little brighter. It is my heart-felt belief that all students can achieve success.  By consistently challenging students to do their best, our mission is almost complete.  Students at the elementary age are at a pivotal point in their lives where they are very impressionable.  Therefore, I strive to ensure that each of those experience are positive ones. I feel honored to be a CES Bulldog and serve in my new role. I am here to support the students, teachers and the school community. Please feel free to contact me any time. You can call me at (706) 845-2059 or email me at
