2016-2017 Clubs

  • Art /Chorus Club: Sponsored by Maria Hays & Louis Barnett; the Art/Chorus club will consist of 4th and 5th grade students who are interested in the fine arts. Students will participate in the study of various media or art and/or practice and perform vocals and a group as individuals within the school and throughout the community.
  • AWIM/ Science Club: Sponsored by Hailey Montarella & Jennifer Lean; the AWIM/ Science Club will consist of 3rd and 4th grade students who are serious about Science. These students will participate in an inquiry based club using the scientific method with journal keeping.
  • Broadcast Club: Sponsored by Kim Sharkey; 4th and 5th Grade students will be responsible for the daily news broadcast that is reported each morning. During this time, these students will lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance, Moment of Silence, and spotlight information such as events, birthdays, and character education.
  • Drama Club: Sponsored By Nikki DeMooney; Students in 4th and 5th Grade will participate in Readers Theater and Dramatizations of Children’s Literature to explore literature in a variety of styles. Students will participate in workshops on acting, set and prop design and other features of drama.
  • Dynasty Charm and Distinction Step Team (Boys of Charm & Divas of Distinction): Sponsored by Crystal Alexander, Jemeka Harper, Amanda Moncus, Marius Truitt; Callaway's "Dynasty of Charm and Distinction" step team, is a mentoring group designed for young boys and girls to promote scholastics, public service and awareness. This organization will provide them with the opportunity to build relationships and dance. This club is open for students in 4th and 5th grades only.
  • JetToy Challenge: Sponsored By Charles Freeman & Lois Spader; Through the JetToy Challenge, 5th grade students will discover a fictitious toy company called EarthToy Designs. The company wants students to provide a variety of interesting designs for a new line of balloon-powered vehicles made from inexpensive, common materials that will appeal to other children. Working in design teams, students will build and test model JetToys using different nozzles, and collect and analyze data to understand the effect of nozzle size on the performance of the toys.
  • Garden Club: Students in 3rd, 4th. & 5th grades will assist in maintaining our campus by collecting trash, planting/maintain flower beds and planters, and participate in hands-on activities as it relates to horticulture and plant life.
  • TAG/ School Beautician Club: Sponsored by Kim Patton; The TAG club will consist of 3rd-5th grade students who will meet after school to collect recycling throughout the building. Students will also assist in maintaining our campus by collecting trash.
  • Robotics Team: Sponsored by Emily Purcell;  The Robotics Team will consist of students in 4th & 5th grade who demonstrate engineering, programming and problem solving skills as they build robots and program them to carry out tasks to solve real life problems. Students will prepare for competitions during after school practices. Students will represent our school by displaying their best in competition, sportsmanship, and behavior.
  • Sports Mania: Sponsored by Robyn McCann; The Sports Mania club will consist of 4th and 5th grade students who are interested in athletics. Students will engage in various sports activities after school to develop their skills in individual and group sport events.
  • Jr. Beta: sponsored by Erin Beamon; Junior Beta will consists of 5th grade students who have an academic achievement of 85% average in all subjects in 4th grade. It is affiliated with the National Beta Club and participants in service learning activities throughout the school and community.
  • Student Council: Sponsored by Tracy Bowden; Student Council consists of two classroom representatives from each 4th and 5th grade homeroom. Students will represent the school body and participate in the decision making process to improve school and increase student, parents and community involvement in school activities. These students are nominated by teachers.
  • Dance Team: Sponsored by Tachell Johnson; The dance team will consist of 2nd and 3rd grade students who will meet after school to promote positive social skills
