The mission of the Transportation Department is to provide safe and efficient transportation to the students of and in support of the educational functions and school activities of the Troup County School System.

All applications for employment are accepted at the Human Resources office of the Troup County School Board located at 100 North Davis Road, Building C, LaGrange, GA or at the Transportation Office in Building B.
Listed below are the state and local requirements for Full-time and Substitute Drivers:
• Minimum Age: 21 years old
• High School Diploma or GED
• Current Georgia or Alabama Commercial Drivers License (Class B) Passenger & Air Brakes endorsement, School Bus Endorsement (S Endorsement)
• Pass a Criminal Records Check
• Good health (CDL physical examination required)
• First Aid / CPR ( Red Cross Course) Preferred
• Good Character
• Acceptable driving record
• Successful completion of annual DOE Driver Safety Training Program
• Successful completion of Bus-Training
• Twelve hours of classroom training
• Six hours of driving (no students)
• Six hours of driving (with students)
• Successful completion of written exam
• Successful completion of in-service meeting and recertification as required by the Georgia Department of Education and Troup County School Board.
• Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen
Note: The Transportation Department holds classes to assist potential employees in obtaining their Passenger and School Bus Endorsement if they hold a CDL. We also have a State Certified School Bus CDL tester on site for the road portion of the requirements. State of Georgia DOE training is offered by our certified staff members on a monthly basis for drivers once they obtain their CDL.
