SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax)

What is SPLOST?

SPLOST is a countywide, one-cent tax on all consumer goods that must be approved by voters in a referendum and is in effect for five years.  The first SPLOST for Troup County Schools was approved in the spring of 1997 and was in effect from July 1, 1997 to June 30, 2002.  The second SPLOST for Troup County Schools was approved in the fall of 2001 and was in effect from July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2007. 

The current SPLOST, the third for Troup County Schools, was approved in the fall of 2006 and will be in effect from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2012.  Troup County Schools is committed to keeping the public informed about how these tax funds are being spent.  We hope you will visit these pages frequently for updated information.
