11/23/2020: Callaway High Students Selected to Meet Hamilton Musical's Cast and Crew Hamilton

CHS Seniors Messiah Brown & Tamyra Dukes have been selected by the Hamilton Education Program to participate in a Zoom event with the cast & crew of the musical Hamilton. They were selected based on their March 2020 performance piece that was submitted as an entry for the Hamilton Education Program contest. The contest was part of a program CHS US History students completed in the spring on the Revolutionary & Constitutional Periods of history in preparation for a scheduled performance of the musical in Atlanta that was later cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. In preparation for the tasks, students analyzed primary sources & studied the making of the musical Hamilton. Brown & Dukes rap performance piece depicted the duel between Aaron Burr & Alexander Hamilton that resulted in Hamilton's death. They will participate in the Hamilton Zoom event in early December.

Mrs. Karishma Bakshani is Hogansville Elementary's Teacher of the Month for November. This is her second year teaching Ex Ed at HES.

Her first year at Hogansville was full of fun, new experiences, and new

friends. Even Covid couldn’t stop her team from shining!

Mrs. Bakshani grew up in NJ where she got her MBA in marketing from Rutgers University. Her parents have always emphasized the

importance of education. After graduation, she married Danny Bakshani and came to

LaGrange. When her children, Paras and Celina, began school, she started to work again. Mrs. Bakshani says, "working at a local education company made me realize that I would much rather work with children and make a difference! I’m so thankful to all the wonderful teachers in Troup County who have taught my children, and who have made a positive impact on my whole family. When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family and friends!!

Intent to Return to Traditional Learning Form and Information

School system administrators believe that face-to-face instruction is the most viable option for students to excel and are seeing that some students who have chosen virtual instruction are having difficulty.

Parents wishing for their children to return to school can now complete a Return to School Intent Form that is available on the individual school website. All students, including high school students, can return to school on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 after completing the process.
