Updated School Closure Information

Governor Brian Kemp just issued an Executive Order mandating all schools in Georgia will remain closed for in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year. This includes TCSS.

Please note that current grade calculations will be based upon student mastery of material covered through March 12, 2020 which was the end of the third nine weeks grading period. Student learning will continue after our scheduled Spring Break. We don’t want our kids to lose the valuable knowledge and skills they have gained this school year. Teachers will be contacting their students and working with them to ensure additional opportunities are available for students to demonstrate mastery of previously covered material. More details will be available the week of April 13th.

At this time, we do not have any further updates. We know there are academic milestones and other events that our students and families were looking forward to this year. As updates are available, we will share them.

Over the past several weeks, our commitment to the students and the families of TCSS has been paramount. We will continue this commitment through the closure. Together, we will all get through this.

Dear Hogansville Family
Coronavirus

Dear Troup County School System Community:

TCSS has been closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus). During this time, we have been following the guidance of our local health department, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDoE).

There are no confirmed cases in Troup County, but we want to take a moment to share our action plan for preventive measures. Our school staff have intensified cleaning practices throughout our buildings and will follow all directions provided by public health to prevent and limit the spread of any contagious disease. Please take a moment to read and review the three attached documents that will also be housed on troup.org.

Please trust that we are committed to transparency and will continue to make decisions to protect the health of all of our students, staff, and school community. We will share this information with our community later today.

Congratulations Mrs. Kim Holstun!

Congratulations to Kim Holstun, HES's teacher of the month for the month of October. Mrs. Holstun has been teaching in Hogansville for over 28 years now.  She and her husband, Alan, live in LaGrange and have two children, Caroline and Connor. Caroline lives in Athens, GA. She is expecting her first child in June, and Mrs. Holstun cannot wait to be a grandmother! Connor lives in Troy, Alabama. Mrs. Holstun and her husband enjoy going on family vacations and spending time with their children. Mrs. Holstun  absolutely loves teaching Kindergarten. Teaching children to read is very rewarding she says!
