08/16/19: CHS Alumni Earns Chartwells Scholarship chartwells

Congratulations to Jonathan Montgomery who is a scholarship recipient for the 2019 Chartwells Scholarship. This $5000 award is presented to a graduating senior who is pursuing a career in nutrition, food or hospitality management, culinary arts or a business-related subject. The individual must be enrolled in a related post-secondary education program.

Montgomery is a 2019 Callaway High School graduate. He stopped by the Troup County School System Nutrition Department and met with Mark Dingee, Chartwells representative, before heading to his first days on the campus of Kennesaw State University.

08/15/19: The Hope Academy Prepares for New School Year Week 1 HOPE

The faculty and staff are ready for the new school year at The HOPE Academy. They are excited to work with the students as the year progresses. A new change at HOPE is starting this year and that is the addition of flex time into the school day schedule. This will allow time for students to be exposed to the arts and recreational activities during their assignment on the campus. In addition, HOPE staff is implementing HOPE Works where high school students will be provided job readiness training. 

08/08/19: Georgia Dept. of Education Student Advisory Council Applications Available

State School Superintendent Richard Woods is seeking middle and high school students to serve on his 2019-20 Student Advisory Council. These students will meet with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom, along with other issues related to education, and will serve as the Superintendent’s ambassadors to their respective schools. Members will also engage in community service projects to benefit Georgia students and schools.
