• School Closings/Delays:

Dear Troup County School System Community,

Governor Brian Kemp issued an Executive Order closing all schools through Friday, April 24th.  This is a two-week extension of our previously announced return date.  Therefore, our plan now will be to return to school on Monday, April 27th.

As part of our support to students and families during this extended cancellation, TCSS will continue providing meal distribution services at the designated school locations and various bus stops throughout the county. Meal distribution services will occur as scheduled through April 3rd. The sites and locations can be found on troup.org.  We will send out more information regarding food services for the extended closure in the coming days.

Teachers continue providing student online learning resources. They are working remotely, and are available via email, to best support students and provide continuous learning opportunities. Please access the online resources at troup.org.  Many teachers are also utilizing their Google Classrooms to share learning resources as well.  We will provide more information regarding additional resources as it becomes available.  Please visit our Facebook page for daily tips and updates.

We appreciate the support of the parents, all of our staff, and the entire community during this very unprecedented time. We will continue to keep you updated as information unfolds.

Alma Mater

Alma Mater: Hail to Thee, L.H.S.

With united hearts we praise thee; all our loyalty is thine,
and we hail thee Alma Mater, may thy light forever shine.

May thy name forever waken an affection deep and true,
May we Lead, Honor and Serve thee; LHS the White and Blue.

The original words were written by Danny Stinson of the Class of 1957.  Originally set to the tune "Far Above Cayuga's Waters" the Alma Mater of Cornell University.  The words were adapted and edited to a single verse version with a new melody in 2015.

In the town of Elms and Roses there's a spot that ever calls,
Where among the the hills enfolded stand our Alma Mater's Walls.

Where the trees life high their branches, to the whisp'ring southern breeze.
There our LHS is calling to our hearts’ fond memories.

With united hearts we praise thee; all our loyalty is thine.
And we hail the Alma Mater, may thy light forever shine.

May it brighter grow and brighter, and with deep affection true.
May thoughts of thee forever, linger round the White and Blue.

May thy fame in all the nation through they sons and daughters grow,
May they name forever waken in our hearts a tender glow.

May thy counsel and thy spirit, ever more thy children bless,
and our own shall be thine honor; Hail to Thee, Dear L.H.S.!
