Dr. R. Jarrett Farrell started playing violin in the first grade. By the time he made it to middle school band, he picked up the tuba. Now, he has been the LaGrange High School band instructor for 14 years. “My whole reason for joining band and being a band director is the LaGrange High School Band,” said Farrell as he told the 140 marching band students to take a five minute break.
Even though he graduated from high school in Birmingham, he feels like Troup County is home since he attended school here during his early years. His brothers graduated from LaGrange High and he fondly remembers their experience. He said those memories are what brought him to the doorstep as the band director.
