Special Events

We would like to draw your attention to the following special events for THINC.

Tuesday, February 4th - TCSS Job Shadowing Day

Job shadowing allows a student, employee, or intern to gain comprehensive knowledge about what an employee who holds a particular job does every day. Job shadowing provides a far richer experience than reading a job description or doing an informational interview during which an employee describes his or her work. Job shadowing allows the observer to see and understand the nuances of a particular job. The job shadowing employee is able to observe how the employee does the job, the key deliverables expected from the job, and the employees with whom the job interacts.

Career exploration is an important part of the learning experience for students. Job shadowing, internships, and Work-based learning opportunities all give students chances to experience parts of the "real-world" before they make the important decisions about what careers they want to follow.

Students can pickup Job Shadow applications at their base schools. THINC students who don't go to their base school or who are home schooled can apply here.

Friday, October 25th - THINC Fast! Mock Interview Sessions Event

Students from THINC College & Career Academy participated in the annual THINC Fast! mock interview sessions event on Friday, October 25th. Over 40 business and community members came into the LaGrange & Troup Rooms on the WGTC campus to help facilitate giving these students a realistic chance to practice the soft skills involved with interviewing for employment. Over 900 total interviews were conducted between the AM & PM sessions. Students were evaluated during their interviews on a scale of 1 to 5 based on the same factors that are important in the real world: Body language, Eye contact, Appearance, and Response to questions. Students who were especially impressive (like Elijah, pictured) received "Spark Cards" for additional recognition.

Tuesday, August 27th - THINC Welcome Back Rally

Business & community leaders will join THINC faculty in staff in a "Welcome Back Rally" for both our AM & PM students. It is a good way to share some positive energy and to introduce our students to some of the people who will show that they are also invested in their success as students and as developing young community members.

If you are interested in coming to THINC to cheer on our students from CHS, LHS & THS &/or speak to our CTAE classes afterward, please fill out this form
