Troup County Schools Partners with LaGrange College Nursing Students for Annual Vision and Hearing Screenings
The Troup County School System (TCSS) has launched its annual vision and hearing screenings across all elementary schools, ensuring second- and fifth-grade students are healthy and ready to succeed in the classroom.
The initiative is made possible through a new partnership with LaGrange College’s Nursing Program. Nursing students assist TCSS staff in administering the state-recommended screenings, allowing the nursing candidates to fulfill required clinical hours while providing health services to local children.
TCSS Health Services Coordinator, Christy King visited LaGrange College prior to the start of screenings to train participating nursing students.
Last year, the collaborative effort successfully screened 1,585 elementary students across TCSS.
