• School Closings/Delays:

Dear Troup County School System Community,

Governor Brian Kemp just issued an Executive Order mandating all schools in Georgia will remain closed for in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year. This includes TCSS.

Please note that current grade calculations will be based upon student mastery of material covered through March 12, 2020 which was the end of the third nine weeks grading period. Student learning will continue after our scheduled Spring Break. We don’t want our kids to lose the valuable knowledge and skills they have gained this school year. Teachers will be contacting their students and working with them to ensure additional opportunities are available for students to demonstrate mastery of previously covered material. More details will be available the week of April 13th.

At this time, we do not have any further updates. We know there are academic milestones and other events that our students and families were looking forward to this year. As updates are available, we will share them.

Over the past several weeks, our commitment to the students and the families of TCSS has been paramount. We will continue this commitment through the closure. Together, we will all get through this.

    Thank you,
    TCSS

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Hello. I am Mrs. Barrientos, your child’s Spanish teacher.

I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to inspire your child this year. Spanish 1 is a very exciting subject where students learn the significance of acquiring a second language in this competitive and global world. Soon, your child will be able to read, write, and have a full conversation in Spanish. It is my goal and passion to inspire all my students to become BILINGUAL.

We have textbooks and workbooks that we will use on regular basis. We will also take notes every day and I will provide your child with worksheets and copies of grammar, vocabulary and other important information in order to succeed in this challenging course.

Please make sure your child brings the following materials the first week of school:

1  3 Ring Binder (ether 1” or 1 1/2 inches)

1 Pack of 6 or 8 dividers

         1 Pack of Notebook Paper

1 Pack of ink pens & pencils

1 Highlighter

1 Book Cover– jumbo

Spanish 3 students also need a composition notebook or a nice journal.

Wish list for the classroom: We need the following materials for the class, any donations will be highly appreciated.

     Construction paper

Markers (10 count or larger pack)

     Colored pencils

     Glue sticks

Tissues (Kleenex), hand-sanitizer, or Clorox wipes.

Please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail barrientosaa@troup.org or by phone: 706 883 1590  Room E200.

Thank you for your support and I’m looking forward meeting you in our Open House.

Sincerely,

Andrea Barrientos, M. Ed.
