Family and Consumer Sciences is a program of study that focuses on the relationship between individuals, families, and communities, and offers several career pathways for students to pursue. At Troup County High School, students have the opportunity to enroll in the Nutrition and Food Science Pathway. The three courses in this pathway allow students to explore the importance of making healthy choices including planning nutritious meals and exercise for overall wellness, basic food preparation, nutritional needs of each lifecycle stage, and the science of nutrition and food preparation. The courses in this pathway are Food, Nutrition, and Wellness; Food for Life; and Food Science.

Mrs. Connie Aplin teaches the Nutrition and Food Science Pathway and has over 20 years of experience teaching Family and Consumer Science courses and advising the related career technical student organization Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.(FCCLA).
