The Transportation Department's mission is to provide the safest and most efficient transportation to the students of Troup County School System.

Our Transportation Department does much more than just drive. We manage complex schedules, maintain a massive fleet, and ensure a safe, reliable start and end to the school day for our students.

The Team Behind the Fleet

It takes a dedicated team working behind the scenes to keep our wheels turning seamlessly every single day:

  • 109 Full-Time Bus Drivers and 52 Bus Monitors (including 16 dedicated specifically to our Special Needs routes) who ensure our students have a safe and positive ride.

  • 3 Zone Supervisors (covering CHS, LHS, and THS), 1 Special Education Zone Supervisor, 1 Logistics Manager, 1 Training Supervisor, and 1 Field Trip Coordinator who map out efficient routes and manage daily schedules.

  • 1 Director, 1 Asst. Director, 2 Dispatchers, and 1 Secretary to the Director who coordinate daily communication and keep the entire operation running smoothly.

  • 1 Shop Supervisor and 8 Mechanics who keep our vehicles safely on the road. (Note: We are currently looking for an Assistant Shop Supervisor to join this team!)

Department Highlights

  • 97.25% State Inspection Pass Rate: Like school districts nationwide, Troup County has faced a bus driver shortage. To ensure no student was left stranded, our mechanics frequently stepped out of the garage and into the driver’s seat to cover substitute routes. What makes this remarkable is that despite pulling double duty on the roads, our maintenance team never compromised on safety. That number is a direct result of their work ethic and refusal to cut corners under pressure.

  • #1 in District Attendance: For the 2025–2026 school year, the Transportation Department earned the title for the department with the highest perfect attendance. They show up consistently so our students can, too.

Georgia celebrates School Bus Driver Appreciation Day on the third Monday in October and it coincides with National School Bus Safety Week. In the spring, National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day is celebrated on the fourth Tuesday in April. We are grateful for the vital role this entire department plays every single day.
