Summer is the perfect time for children to explore new hobbies, keep active, and make new friends. Troup County offers a variety of summer activities, from church camps and day camps to overnight adventures and sports training. Although these activities are not affiliated with nor endorsed by the Troup County School System, they can provide enriching experiences for your child.

Day Camps

Troup Sheriff's Academy for Youth or S.A.Y- a summer day camp program that Sheriff Woodruff provides every summer in conjunction with Troup County Parks and Recreation Department. The camp consists of two one-week day camps where youth are exposed to the function and duties of the Sheriff's Office along with several other topics that range from stranger danger to water safety. 

The first week kids ages 9-10 are accepted and the program is tailored to their interests and needs in that age bracket. The second week is for kids ages 11-12 and they are also taught safety and awareness in matters that are more relevant to their age group as well. 

The S.A.Y. Academy begins each morning with a topic taught by either a Sheriff's Office Staff member or an outside expert and then following the morning sessions the kids are rewarded by an afternoon of swimming, skating or going to an appropriately rated movie. The hours of the day camp are from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. with the exception of Friday, which is graduation day.

Registration typically opens in early May and fills up quickly (24 slots per week).

Turnaround
Opens the Tuesday after Memorial Day and ends the day before school starts. It serves 5-12 year old children. The camp hours are 7:30 - 5:00. They offer morning devotion, skating, games, playground time, and possibly swimming. Parents provide breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks. The camp provides the morning snack.

Piney Woods Farm Camp - From Seed to Harvest Summer Camp
Join for the full six week Seed-to-Harvest Program OR pick your weeks to attend!

Children entering Kindergarten through Fifth Grade (August 2025) are invited to join us. We’ll be limiting the number of students in each class, so registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Camp Cowpie Celebrating America's 250th Birthday
June 15-19
$85 to attend
Open to boys and girls entering 2nd-5th grades. Younger children may attend but a parent must stay during the entire camp.
