GNMS Year End Information

Gardner Newman Middle School End of Year Closure Information
 

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
 

State mandated school closures for the remainder of the 2019 - 2020 academic year have brought our system into uncharted territory, and as a result, unprecedented decisions must be made in a variety of areas. Our primary goal, as always, is to ensure that district and school leaders are making decisions with the safety of our students as our top priority and to share information with our stakeholders as quickly as possible. As such, this communication is to inform parents/students of determinations made related to middle school events.
 

Attention current 6th and 7th grade Mustangs and future (5th Grade) Mustangs, typically these documents are distributed to the students to take home. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue that practice at this time. If you are able to return the documents to GNMS, please do so. If that is not an option, you may email Mr. Thomas Moat, 6th Registrar/Assistant Principal at moattm@troup.org your child's course selections. Click here to view the form.
 

Honors Day celebrations will not be held in the traditional way, but schools will announce and recognize the outstanding students who have earned these special accolades. Grading for the purpose of Honors Day will end on May 1st to give ample time to review grades, attendance, and prepare awards. Each school will publish a list of these students on their websites and via their social media platforms. In addition, certificates honoring these individuals will be printed and distributed at a later time-more information to follow.
 

In regards to grading, all academic work must be completed and grades finalized by Friday, May 15th. Each campus will then develop a schedule for Chromebook collection, return of materials, payment of fines/fees, etc., that will take place during the week of May 18th - May 22nd and parents/students will be notified of these dates and times.
 

Yearbooks will be distributed in front of Gardner Newman Middle School on May 12th from 10am to 2pm. This will be by drive thru in order to comply with social distancing. If you have not had a chance to purchase your yearbook, please email Ms. Rogers at rogersag@troup.org to reserve a copy and pay on distribution day. Yearbooks are $40-exact change or check payable to GNMS.
 

We are excited to announce that despite some necessary variations considering the current circumstances, the PTO sponsored Mr. & Miss GNMS Spirit Competition will continue! Voting for our finalists will resume 4/17 and continue until 5/1. Winners will be announced and recognized on Friday, May 8th. Vote anytime, anywhere with Venmo @GNMS-PTO. $1=1 vote.
